Jean-Yves Thibaudet - Satie: The Complete Solo Piano Music
i bought this satie collection from bmg when it closed five or six years ago. i only just now opened it, which was probably a mistake: it has two copies of disc 4 and no disc 3. i've begun the process of contacting the label, decca. hopefully they'll send me a replacement disc without any trouble. this sort of thing is not easy to resolve. labels tend not to give out contact information because they don't want to be inundated with unsolicited demos. i'll be sad not to have disc 3, but not enough to purchase the set again.
make no mistake: this is a fantastic set. the music is remarkable and the interpretation and performance brilliant. the four discs i do have are worth every penny. if you're looking for a single collection of satie piano pieces, this 5-disc set from decca is the way to go.
