William Orbit: an uncritical analysis

A co-worker asked me about William Orbit. Here's what I had to say:

Orbit has done some interesting production work (Ray of Light and 13 have very different sounds), but overall he's middle-of-the-road electronica. It's stuff for people who are kind of afraid of dance music, ambivalent to ambient, and curious about keyboards. He has a few interesting tracks, mostly due to the artists performing on them. His classical album is a snooze, bringing nothing to the compositions but a few sound effects and his usual crisp production. I'd slam his remix of "Electrical Storm" but the original was dull to begin with. Orbit didn't improve matters, unfortunately.
